Back to School - Make Up Bag Essentials

Everyone, whether you're going back to school or not, has some form of a make-up bag inside their school bag/handbag. Seeing as it's the Back to School season I have decided to do a make-up bag essentials post hence you reading this. This is solely going to include make up and other beauty essentials will be featured in a school bag essentials post which will be going up shortly.

Now everyone is different and every school is different. I know that some schools are relatively strict on how much make-up you can wear whereas others aren't really bothered. So this post will be tailored for the bear basics one will need at school but I will feature a few extras you can choose to add if you wish.

Lip Balm
This is a 100% necessity. Lip balm is a must to have in any bag for any occasion. I normally try to go for one with heavy moisturising benefit alongside an SPF so I can keep/repurchase the same one (or buy in bulk which I frequently like to do) for the whole year.
My favourite is the Palmers Cocoa Butter Lip Balm.

Tinted Lip Balm
Again as some schools don't allow you to wear heavy make up a tinted lip balm is perfect. Not only does it give you a boost of moisture on your lips but whilst adding a hint of subtle colour.
My favourite is the Korres Tinted Lip Balm in Pomegranate.

Blotting Paper
As many of those going back to school are teenagers it's expected for those to have oily skin or those who do not it will be likely to get a slight shine on the skin from where the skin produces oil throughout the day. These are so ideal to just chuck in your bag and use when your skin feels a bit too oily.
My favourite is the Kleenex Blotting Papers.

Powder
Similar to the blotting papers, powder is great to cover up shine/oil on the face alongside helping to prolong your face makeup throughout the day. I usually only take one or the other to save room in my make up bag.
My favourite is the Rimmel Stay Matte Powder in Transparent.

Concealer
Again as its teens who are most likely to be going back to school similarly to the oily skin to be expected spot prone skin goes hand in hand. So of course as the day progresses you don't want to find you have a lovely spot pop up on your skin and no way to cover it up. I like using a creamy concealer as you can blend away with your fingers so no need to carry an extra brushes.
My favourite is the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer.

Compact Mirror
Probably one of the most important things in any girls make up bag, a compact mirror. Of course you can't go through the day without checking your makeup/face/hair at least once (or maybe three or four times) throughout the day. My compact has both a normal mirror and a magnifying one (which can be slightly scary to look at!).

Now onto the make up extras...

Lip Stick
As not all schools are strict most students can get away with a lipstick. I usually opt for a 'pretty and pink' colour or a very natural colour saving the more outrageous lip for a special occasion rather than your typical school day.
My favourite is Seventeen in Beehive or the Revlon Just Bitten Balm Stain in Honey.

Tweezers
Again an extra but I personally hate it if you find a stray eyebrow hair in the middle of the day and you just need to pluck it! Mine are some No7 Tweezers from an old Christmas gift set.

Nail File
I often break a nail and hate when it feels rough and rips even more. Having a nail file is just so handy to have to hand in case of any of those nail disasters.

Hope this has helped any of you struggling to decide what you do really need at school without carrying around the kitchen sink!
